These cards are relatively simple and can be utilized to help students practice labeling months and years. There are 24 cards in the set, covering the months of the year and years 2001-2010.
Game Ideas:
- TIME MACHINE FLIP-GAME: The basic idea here is that students have stepped into a time machine, and random flipping of cards will inform the students as to what month and year they step out again. Place all the cards face down on the table. Students take turns flipping two cards, but the first card they need to successfully flip is a month card and the second must be a year. If this doesn't happen, they 'step back' into the time machine again and receive no time travel points. Even when they do flip a month card first and a year card second, they need to successfully state the date in order to receive time travel points (the month/year sequence here is recommended in order to encourage students to state month and year in that order, ie. "I'm stepping out of the time machine and it's... November, 2001"). This game/activity can be built up first by focusing on months or years in isolation.
